Meets and Events / Exeter Show November 21/22 2009
« on: September 21, 2009, 10:44:57 PM »
This is the next major show and marks "the end of the 2009 season".
It's held at Westpoint. I will post address details, entry price, opening hours later. (Sometimes it doesn't matter whether the details I post are correct or not - even when they are right, people copy them incorrectly and end up in the strangest of places!  ;D )

I'll start to plea now for people to attend - there must be owners in the South-West, who could turn up, surely??? (Or is it that Madman and tenpin are the only madmen who try to turn up to every show?)

What's pretty certain is that while there won't be a barbecue or camping, we will have a great time. We managed at Stafford, so I'm sure we will again at Exeter.

3Sixty Chat / Spotted
« on: September 12, 2009, 10:10:14 AM »
As few people turn up to shows in their DNAs, I thought (for a bit of fun) why don't we start a thread for any cars that we spot whilst driving around? Obviously, some people want to pretend that their vehicles are the genuine item... so we'd better not spoil their fun and put registrations here, but we could list where spotted, colour (oh that's no good - they'll all be red!  ;D  ;D ) and approximate time of spotting.
This thought occurred yesterday as I was driving around and came across a red one - now I don't know whether he thought mine was genuine, but for any other drivers seeing two 360's - well.....

So "spotted":
Red 360 on a 55 plate; Friday 9-Sep around 18:00; A22/M25 area. (If it's yours and you're reading this forum - your car gives the game away as the wrong segment lights up on your offside brake light  :-[ )

Curses - I've just realised that this means that that guy will know mine's a fake as well!  ;D  ;D

Post away and we'll see if there are truly more than half a dozen cars in existence!!

Meets and Events / Calling All Kit Cars in the South
« on: August 31, 2009, 10:07:01 AM »
There was an article in this month's Complete Kit Car Magazine inviting all kit car owners for a run to Bentley Wildfowl and Motor Museum on Sunday 6th September. Bentley is near Lewes in East Sussex.
The guy who's organising it is Mark Greenwood, his email is
I've emailed him and the plan is to have four starting points (N,E,S,W), the cars to run in convoy (in small groups) and everyone to converge at 11:00 at Bentley.
I've said that I'm interested and will probably be going. I don't know how many of us there are in this area, but it would be nice if mine wasn't the only DNA car there!
Photos etc to follow and we'll see what the turnout is like.

Meets and Events / Stafford Kit Car Show -September 19/20 2009
« on: August 19, 2009, 10:57:30 PM »
Time to think about planning for the next show - Stafford. For those of you who've heard the rumours, I can confirm this was the event where the £5 (+VAT) special first appeared!

Meets and Events / Soft-top Sunday
« on: July 27, 2009, 01:35:07 PM »
It's been a bit quiet on the events front, so I thought I'd throw in this one - just for fun! It's a once a month themed display event at Goodwood Motor racing circuit.
Here's the web page to check it out - and you should register there if you want to go.

It looks to good a deal to be true. You turn up early in the morning (OK that's not so good) and if you meet their criteria you get to park on the circuit. Then you go off and get a free breakfast!!! (You and your passenger)

I'm going to check it out this Sunday as the car seems to meet their themed requirements for this particular Sunday. I know it's too far for a lot of DNAOC members, but we must have some in that vague area!?! Be good to meet some more of you and get a few DNA's lined up!

I'll post a report after the event, and maybe some pics.

Sales and Wants / Sales and Wanted
« on: June 10, 2009, 01:42:02 PM »
This is specifically for parts for and from MR2s - you know all those little bits you've got left over on the garage floor! Also you can post here in the unlikely event that you would want to part with your DNA.

This topic was suggested some months ago by Madman and I think it's a cracking good idea, I'm just not sure why I didn't do it before!

Meets and Events / Stoneleigh Show May 3rd 4th 2009
« on: April 06, 2009, 10:42:06 PM »
This is the big show of the year - OK, some may disagree, but there's a heck of a lot of it.

This show is on the Sunday / Monday of the bank holiday this year.

I'll pose the question of who's going and how many cars after we've had the Detling show.

Meets and Events / Detling Show 2009
« on: January 14, 2009, 11:28:36 PM »
The start show of the year (and my "home" show). I'm told that this year it's on the 12/13th April which is Easter Sunday and Monday. OK that's a few months off, but hey that gives plenty of time to prepare and plan to attend it. I'm planning for my 360 to be completed by then and be at the show. With any luck we can persuade Madman to bring his 430 along.... Who else thinks they might be there? What do we reckon about camping and a BBQ?

3Sixty Chat / Welcome to the Forum
« on: January 14, 2009, 07:58:37 PM »
I thought I'd take this opportunity to welcome anyone who's come across this site as a result of reading the January 2009 Complete KitCar magazine. The photo of the car on page 35 is a genuine owner's club car - how do I know? - it's mine! The photo was taken at the recent Exteter show, but the article was purely down to the magazine, thanks guys! I'd like to think we could get lots more in the mags over this year 2009 as more cars get completed, both 360's and 430's.

Meets and Events / Exeter Show - November 2008
« on: August 19, 2008, 11:27:39 PM »
Just thought I'd start a topic for the last show of the year - no excuses now for not remembering this one. It's actually called "Great Western Kit & Car Builder Show". The dates are 15/16 November.
Last year it was cold and wet - thinks.... not a very good PR job of getting people to come to the show! However I did meet some very friendly and enthusiastic people there. If I remember rightly that included someone called Brian and Roland, whoever they are.

Here's a word of warning to anyone coming who hasn't yet got a DNA kit (apart from "why not?") it was after that show that I made up my mind, then took the plunge and became the owner of a 360 kit.

Meets and Events / Stafford show - September 2008
« on: August 13, 2008, 11:08:47 PM »
OK, well here's the starter for ten... How about that? Reckon we could get at least 10 DNAOC members (if not cars) together at the show?

Meets and Events / Detling Show - April 12/13
« on: April 06, 2008, 02:12:36 PM »
Anyone going to Detling? I had heard a rumour that DNA might be there. I'm hoping to have a look at a completed car and answer all the questions I never knew I had, before I start cutting my donor about.
Weather check - it's snowing in Kent right now and looking out on the drive my car is covered with 3 inches of the stuff - definitely not kit building waether! Still it's going to be sunny for Detling. (Don't quote me on that!)

Build Threads / SouthEast Build 3Sixty
« on: February 28, 2008, 08:52:58 PM »
Well, I've lurked for a while, pretty much ever since the Exeter show back in November when DNA gave me the name of this forum! So, I thought it's about time I made my first post and said hello. Hey, everyone seems so friendly and supportive here - thanks to everyone who's posted and to Steve for the forum.

After a few abortive attempts, I've finally arranged a donor and there's a deposit on a kit winging its way to DNA. As to when the build starts, well that's going to depend on sorting out insurance to get the donor home, when the kit arrives, when I can pluck up courage to destroy a working MR2 and when I can get time off work. Anyway, that's enough for a first post - I'll do more when there's something to show.
