Build Threads / Photo Hosting

Well it seems that Photobucket has now hit my account and wiped off all my pictures on every site I've embedded a photo
I hope there's some real backlash from this as I don't know what to do, they're asking for $399 to enable hosting.

This was first sighted on MADMECHANICS, I thought it was 'commercial/prolific posters' being targeted but it seems it's global, I feel as I'm being held to ransom

Hi guys, just sorting a few bits out and have come to the ride height, I've adjusted my shocks to the setting as seen below, to be honest I'll struggle to get it any lower, so I was wondering what seems to be the general consensus

This is the straight line view , I don't have a lot of travel before the tyre will hit the inner arch

I'm very happy with the front camber, I've got unequal arms and they work perfectly, currently I'm on about 1.5 degrees



F430's run between 6.5" and a low 5.5", depending on their own setup. Standard height is given as 6" due to our European roads and speed bumps. But some have lowered their cars for a more aggressive stance

Over the years I've noticed this question asked over and over again for the Mr2

We have the upgrades and transplants which I think are pretty much dealt with in various threads but not one specific as a separate topic.

I have my v8

There are Camry V6 conversions and the Lexus V6

The standard vvti 1.8 with forced induction either turboed or supercharged

And lastly those pesky little chip tunes unleashing the 1.8's untapped power


I've yet to see a twin entry turbo from the Mr2 Mk2, is this not a good engine? is it too much work to take from a mk2 and put in a mk3?

I hope this will be a thread that's going to be informative for people who are considering this venture

Hi Guys, I'm starting to look at the nice stuff for my 430, I love the 458 diamond rims and I'm looking to find a set close to this:




I've found these and they come in all sorts of pcd's, et, and diameters



All comments and possibilities are more than welcome, I may try 20" rims, please be aware my suspension steering geometry is NOT  that  of an Mr2 so I don't have the front wheel steering 'swing' filling the arch when turning

Sales and Wants / Set of Madman F430 dialbacks for sale

I've got an unused dialback for sale for the MR2 F430, it's still wrapped up.
  £50 including postage in the UK
This was kindly supplied by Steve (Madman)
 I'm looking to go for a one off design at the cost of +£200, now you can see how much cheaper these are
I'll be at stoneleigh if anyone wants to pick them up from there

Hi guys I'm now looking to purchase my new shocks from GAZ, I need to know the lb ratings of the front and rear springs, this is where I can opt for a subtle change if needed.

What is the feel of the ride on the completed cars, I want sporty not bone shaker ;D

I won't be ordering till next week or so, hopefully this will give Roland or Brian time to chip in with the specs, I didn't want to call as I don't want waste your time on something that can be answered when you're at the computer or on the smart phone

5cudo Chat / rear wheel drive cougar possible offer

Hi Guys, I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel with my 430 build (thinking in the future), and now looking at my next project.

I don't have the funds to build another replica, so I thought a compromise.

I do have the ability to buy 1 good cougar and a 'donor' for a conversion.

What sort of REAL price would some of you guys pay for a running rear wheel drive cougar, all the basic work would be done, ie. engine that is running, gearlever working, fluids, petrol tank, electrics but no exhaust as it comes as part of the kit.
 Obvious advantages are:
 1 rear wheel drive
 2 Turbo and supercharger options, look at the early noble for examples of possible power
 3 OMG kudos
 4 did i mention rear wheel drive?

This offer would be limited to a 5cudo build by a fellow builder and NOT a turnkey, I want it to be part of somebody's labour of love project,  I'd be looking to cover costs with a drink.
I'd like to think it could be started at the beginning of next year, but due to the work involved it could be around a 4 month's to complete.

As most of you will know I've been building my 430 mix and match for sometime, things get put to one side and forgotten about.

One of those things is the rear clip, due to lack of room and a little bit of laziness it has been stored outside on level ground open to all weathers. I thought I had protected the ply support, but no, moisture had got to it and it started to delaminate! I tried glueing it back together and thought it had worked until I dry fitted the rear clip to the car so I could determine the exhaust run, this is where things start to get noticed, namely the obviously rotten plywood.

So before attempting to do a repair I went down to my local fibreglass specialist, they're called fibresports, they used to supply my dad amongst others fibreglass arches for the mk1 and 2 escorts etc... for racing. They were very helpful, even asking if I wanted to take it to them for the repair, anyway I came out with a boxfull of resin, catilyst, pigment, tissue & matt aswell as rollers, brushes and measuring jugs.

I turned the clip upside down and set to work under the advisement of the fibre guys, once I got the top glass layer off the ply wood just peeled away without much resistance, the layer bonded to the fibreglass was sanded away using a finishing pad on my grinder.

Below is a picture of the old plywood, or what's left of it!



 Next I used the original top fibreglass layer as a template for the new plywood support



Then the mess! Hope I supported it enough  ;D



I'll do the overlay tomorrow, this will also have the black pigment in it so it blends in with the rest of the under of the body.

I've had to do this work because I didn't protect the rear clip adequately and it serves me right, unfortunately I'll never learn ::)

I looked around for a dedicated post regarding the dash cover from DNA, since this is an item constantly commented on I thought it deserved a headed post.
 I for one realise that DNA (Roland/Brian + technical Engineers/plug experts etc) are busy trying to answer technical queries, put turnkeys together, package consignments etc.and therefore understand that the dash may take time to materialise.
 This post will be for any update particular to this DNA item as a general notification.

I'm a newby on this forum so thought I'd introduce myself, and my project so far

The DNA 430 is a lovely conversion, but lacks the V8 feel, so first off I've been researching the donor car capabilities
 
The famous toystar V8 was my first port of call. This is a transversely mounted northstar auto, unfortunately the engine sits partway into the firewall.
 Next step was Hilly's true v8 set up in a lotus esprit

I have spoken to Custom code and they're pretty sure that they can recode the ecu to ignore the original quattro gearbox.

I need the whole A8 car for extra bits when doing the transplant ie cooling system, cats wiring loom etc..

With over 300hp standard and V8 torque the engine will now give me the satisfaction of a replica and still be cheap to service, who knows a little further down the line a supercharger may be in the pipeline (I prefer the almost instant power as apposed to turbo lag)

I have been looking to build a replica for over 15 years but haven't had the time, now I do and can't wait.

 First purchase will be the A8 4.2 quattro, a 1995-1998 for around £1600
 The car will have the ecu sent away for reprogramming and remapping.
Next my Mr2 purchase, I'd like to get one with the precat destroyed engine, who knows. Budget £2500 max
 Once engine is running in the car I will purchase the 430 kit, I'm quite happy to do the suspension mods myself as I've built and raced short circuit cars for over twenty years, I'm not to fond of the large wheel spacers, I'll speak to the GAZ and LEDA guys later.
 Colour- ferrari met black with tan leather interior, One of my old mates is a great refinisher and sprayer, he'll spend a whole week preping and spraying in ICI

Just need to find the two cars to make a start!
