« on: July 25, 2013, 01:11:32 AM »
I am struggling to write this, but I thought I'd test the water. :o

I am in no hurray to sell, but if the right offer is made I will let someone else enjoy her and wear the big grin ;D for a while.

I'm sure you are all familiar with my car, it's pretty well known by now, but just in case:

DNA F430 Spider in Giallo Modena yellow with black Scuderia stripes and black Scuderia style alloys.

Items that other 430's do not have:

1mz-fe vvti V6 engine fitted to Toyota Celica gearbox with extended 5th gear, LSD, Fidanza lightweight flywheel and MR2 Turbo clutch.
Custom Scuderia style exhaust system. "The best sounding replica yet!"
Fully adjustable coilover suspension with polyurethane bushes.
Doors de-handled and solenoid operated from remote control.
Audi R6 style seats with harness slots.
One-off custom removable hard-top. (Still in the making.)

This is a top spec car and I expect top spec offers, so if you are a serious buyer, pm me and make a serious offer. Car has an agreed insurance value of £35,000.

As I say, I am in no hurry, so do not bother me if you are not willing to pay for the spec.

Before anyone asks, I have no plans to build another car. :'(

Thanks,

Beany ;D

Other kitcar chat / Murcielago Project for sale

Don't know if any of you have seen this on eBay:

Item number 330933928897

 http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=330933928897&kw=330933928897

Absolutely awesome project for someone, I know there are some Lambo fans on here. Genuine Lamborghini wheels and lights included, if the chassis stretch had been done well this is a bargain.

If I didn't have my 430 I'd buy it.

If anyone on here buys it, I'd like to see the build as it progresses.

4thirty Chat / 430 Spider Removable Hardtop, Can it be done?
« on: January 20, 2013, 03:03:39 PM »
Well, Let's find out!

Due to Madman's generosity that knows no bounds, I have the opportunity to give this a go.

Why? I hear you ask. Well, i may soon have to be taking my Spider away each week with me and probably will not be able to shelter it from the elements. So i thought i'd have a go at building a removeable hardtop in an effort to make it fully weather proof.

The theory:

Use an MR2 Roadster hardtop, allowing perfect factory fit to the doors and windscreen. Cut off the rear section and fabricate a new back end to the roof in the shape of the 430 roof. The sides of which, from the door glass backwards, will drop over the top of the side pieces of the rear deck to sit on a rubber seal ontop of the rear wings before sweeping into the shape of the roof tunnels. The entire weight of the roof will be taken by the front and b-post factory mount positions, the rear section will sit lightly on the rear quarters and rear deck, on a weather seal.

I am contemplating fitting some threaded inserts into the roof so eyebolts can be fitted to hoist the roof up singlehandedly in my garage. I will have to fabricate brackets for the b-posts that can be easily removed in order for the z-flaps to function with the soft top. Another issue could be the folded sections of the rear deck as i haven't yet looked to see if the rear deck will close with the softop folded away and the folded sections of the rear deck still folded, which is how it will need to be in order for the hardtop to fit. If that doesnt all work together i will come up with a way to quickly remove and reattach the folding pods.

I'll maybe be able to utilise a soft top rear window which will allow the use of it's heated screen element. I think this would have to be inclined though rather than straight, like the 430 soft top. We'll see.

This is probably not going to be a quick progress, so i apollogise now if i don't get to update this thread too often.

Here's what i have so far.

A damaged hartop from a rolled car resulting in a smashed rear window, and two cracks as you can see in the first three photos. The front corners will also need a slight repair, but all four catches and rubber seals are in good condition. Thanks again to Madman.

Photo 4: Area of join at b-pillar before the rear section rubber was removed.

Photo 5: After rear seal removed. May use a portion of the rear seal when i see how things fit and what i add.

Photo 6&7: All catches, plastic trim panels and headliner removed. Headliner may be able to be reused with an extra section made for the new rear of the roof.

That's it for now. Should get to cutting things up soon.

Here is a one off photo for you, well three actually. Lol.

The one and only Ferrari Replica to escape Madman's Lair without being painted Rosso Red. Although he did threaten to get the paint gun out several times. :o

Cheers fut use ot pit, Madman! Sorry, not sure how to spell with a Yorkshire accent. lol.

Madman and i have had some fun lately over courrier arrangements for a hardtop that he has genorously donated to my attempt at creating something along the lines of the final three photos. The damaged MR2 Roadster hardtop should be with me on Monday, ready for me to attack with the air saw in about a week and a half when i have some spare time.

I'm looking forward to the challenge. May even be able to incoporate a heated rear screen, we'll see. Naturally i will take plenty of photos and post the progress for you.

Cheers,

Hey guys, everyone needs to read this,

Copied from the TwoBrutal forum:

 http://www.the-ace.org.uk/armageddon/#more-901

This topic has come up in the past, but could this, if passed bring an end to our past times, or does it not apply to kitcar's?

Thoughts or ideas for group action welcome.

Should we as DNAOC, put an argument forward? Moderators?

General Chitchat / Cut And Shut
« on: August 20, 2012, 10:57:26 PM »
So,

I mentioned i had another little project on the go while my car was away having it's engine fitted, well, I can now reveal some more details.

Obviously the question that we all ask ourselves before investing our hard earned cash in one of these fantastic DNA cars is, "Just how do you fit a wheelchair into a DNA F430 Spider?"

No, you didn't all ask yourselves that? Oh well, must have just been me then. ::)

Well, if you want to know the answer, keep reading.

The first photo below is a picture of a Kushall K4 wheel chair, which is the type of chair my wife, Sue, has.

When we purchased this chair, i specced it up with a carbon fibre axle and side plates and titanium back and foot rests for lightness and an Alcantara seat back for comfort. The seat cusion is a self inflating pressure cusion to help prevent sores and for Sue to add her touch, she requested front castor wheels that light up as you go along. ::) Actually they are pretty cool and always atract lots of comments, a bit like our cars really.

Any way, as you can see in the second photo, these chairs although extremely lightweight, do not fold up small. the back folds down as you can see and the wheels can be removed with their quick release pins, but that is it. Fine for fitting into your regular family hatchback, but not a DNA F430 Spider.

The answer was to be able to cut up the chair into small bits and figure how to fit it all back together in less than a minute but to retain if not increase the strength and stability of the chair. Sue's Kuschall cost in excess of £2000! :o

Sales and Wants / MR2 Roadster 1zz-fe engine
« on: July 24, 2012, 03:09:36 PM »
Hi guys,

As you all know I am currently having my V6 motor fitted at Woodsports.

This leaves my old 1zz-fe 1.8 engine up for grabs.

Rather than a simple sale, I would like to find someone who is willing to swap my engine for an MR2 Roadster hard-top and fitting kit so I can attempt to build a removable hard top for the DNA 430 Spider.

Maybe your engine has seen better days, maybe you are just starting a build and your donor came with a hard top. Even if you don't need an engine now, it could be worth having a spare. Or one for spare parts.

Engine in excellent condition, Toyota service history, 56,000 miles only, complete with ancillaries (i believe).

PM me if you are interested in a deal and you can maybe help me produce the first hardtop convertible DNA F430 Spider.

Hi all,

Don't panic, i'm not dead.

Due to recent events i thought i best update my status.

As a a lot of you will know i was unable to attend Newark show this year, due to being away celebrating my wife's 40th birthday. In the ever increasing struggle to find birthday gifts for someone as you get older, and when you have most things that you want, and considering for my 40th my wife bought me my DNA 430 kit, i had to search long and hard for a gift befitting such an amazing woman.

So on top of a number of regular type gifts, i purchased for her a portion of land in Glencoe, Scotland, which allows the owner to furnish themselves with the title of Lady, Lord or Laird. The best gift she has ever received, apparently. Result!

Now, it only seemed right that we have a plot of land next to each other, so the Beanster is now a Lord.  :o Lol

4thirty Chat / Coilovers
« on: May 11, 2012, 12:40:36 AM »
Has anyone fitted coilovers to their ride?

I need to replace most of my front suspension, and having got prices from Toyota, i have come to the conclusion i can get a full set of adjustable coilovers for roughly the same price as a standard front set-up from Toyota.

During my search amongst the usual cheaper manufacturers (BC Racing, D2 etc) i came across the set pictured below. They are made by a company called XYZ. I was wandering if anybody had had any experience of this companies product?

The website looks good and the coilovers are in black and yellow, which is an obvious bonus for me. lol.

The Supersport fast road/trackday kit comes in at about £650 which is quite reasonable. Fitting coilovers now would also prevent me having to uprate the current rear springs for the engine transplant.

This is just the first time i have come accross XYZ so if anyone could give me an insight, or to D2 or BC Racing, it would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Beany ;D

4thirty Chat / Beany's Engine Transplant
« on: May 11, 2012, 12:23:12 AM »
Hi guys,

Well the plan was to keep this on the hush hush for a while, but the excitement got the better of me at Stoneleigh and i told practically everybody about the forth coming changes to my powerplant.

Now initially i was adamant about creating a total beast by installing the 2gr-fe, 3.5 v6, tweaked to produce 325bhp and 285lb/ft torque. Now this is a particularly expensive conversion, so i have gone for something out of the ordinary, which as far as i know has not been done before on a Ferrari replica.

The man completing the work is Paul Woods of Woodsport, who most of you would have heard of before, most recently with Paulcas' 1mz-fe 3.0v6 and before that, Mandells 1mz-fe.

I first contacted Paul by email before i had even stripped a single panel off my donor mr2 because i had a feeling that the mr2's 1.8 1zz-fe motor just was not going to give the performance to match the looks. Now at times i have thought, "No, you don't need anymore power, just cruise around nicely making some noise." but more often the need for speed has been there, than not. So the emails to Paul intensified, initially with me pushing the 2gr-fe route, however Paul wanted me to be aware of all the options and between the 1mz-fe 3.0v6 pumping out between 168–190 hp @ 5200–5400 rpm with 183–193 lb•ft of torque at 4400 rpm, depending on the donor and the 2gr-fe, 3.5 v6, 325bhp and 285lb/ft torque, i was introduced to the 3.0 v6 1mz-fe VVTi.

The VVti transforms the standard 1mz engine to produce 210 hp at 5800 rpm with 222 lb•ft (328 N•m) of torque at 4400 rpm. With Paul working the Woodsport magic on the manifolds, exhaust and intakes (the VVT-i 1MZ uses a dual throttle body and cast aluminum intake manifold) this may see figures in the region of 220/230bhp and 230/240lb-ft torque.

Current plans are to fit this engine, already sourced and at Woodsport, from a Lexus RX300, with a 5 speed transmission from a Celica, with a LSD and 5th gear extension. A good strong clutch fitted to a lightweight flywheel for improved throttle response, custom stainless steel exhaust headers, system and tailpipes and custom induction.

All this shold lead to BIG SMILES ;D

The car is going to Paul in June, hence it will not be at Newark this year. There are still a couple details to work out, but nothing major.

Below is a not particularly good quality picture of a 1mz-fe VVti engine to give you an idea of the motor. This choice should give me a much easier drive than a 2gr, which apparently tries to kill you on a regular basis, lol, and a substantial improvement on performance with a sweet sound to boot, if we can pick the right silencer ???

Paul will be sending me photos and will probably be putting a build thread on TwoBrutal, so i will update this thread as and when i can.

Cheers for now,

Beany ;D

4thirty Chat / Embroidered Prancing Horse
« on: February 25, 2012, 01:03:25 AM »
If you are considering fitting aftermarket seats to your 430, 360 or Scudo and don't want the expence of re-trimming just to have prancing horses embroidered, there is now an option.

These embroidered prancing horses have a heat activated adhesive backing, so should adhere to pretty much anything, from seat fabric/leather to floor mats etc.

The guy that has produced these originally was only producing them in red, however i have talked him into extending his line to include yellow and black. He is sending me samples of all three colours and i will bring them to the shows with me this year if anybody would like to check the quality. These will also be used on my new seats, so you will be able to see how they look when fitted.

I will post cost and contact details for the supplier once i have received my samples and will also post more photos of each colour.

Regards

Beany ;D
