Get one built Paul...... ;D

Buy your good lady a weekend away to a spa hotel... Get her nice and relaxed and happy, and tell her you've put the deposit down... Simple....

If Airfix plastic model planes are made exactly to scale, why don't they fly?

Looks great, but, just wondering would it be possible to get rid of the little side Windows in The doors and make it a one piece glass like the real one? It would leave the side view looking a lot sleeker with the windows down. Can't wait to see some of you guys building one!

I was thinking the same thing and, having forked out on a workshop manual I had a look. Removal of the quarter lights is dead easy but it would depend on whether you could get new side glass cut, if it would still fit on the lifting rail and how you would ensure a weather seal to the A pillar.

Then it would be a worry that it might 'flap' when up, but having said all that I am sure a lot of the guys on here could do it.

Loosing the quarter lights would certainly make it look more authentic...and even cooler.

When I spoke to Brian he did say that they have already prototyped a windscreen surround to make it look more like the 'real' thing.

Like I said before, I think the possibilities are immense for endless innovations and tinkering.

I'm totally with you on this one Sir P, they could be turned into a stunning replica, but like you I would need to see them in the flesh first. And also like you, they hopefully they won't be huge money to make a really nice job of. So looking forward to seeing the build kick off on here! So far the pics look good, I've been flipping over images on google for an hour now comparing to the real deal 😄😄

If I build one of these in the future I would want to change the steering wheel for a wooden one.

As there are no controls on the wheel it all looks pretty straightforward, but, what are the rules about removing a safety device i.e. the airbag.

All of you guys who have built a 360 or 430 must know....is it legal for the MOT? :-\

No air bags in my 430, in the drivers or passenger side...

Passed MOT a couple of weeks ago...  ;D

Re airbags. Yes it is all fine them to be removed from an mot perspective. I also told my insurance company as well.

You'll need to see whether removing the BMW causes the air bag light on the dash to stay on. If so you should blank out the bulb. An mot man might fail it for this. You'll be fine

Thanks guys, Fortunately the steering boss I have been looking at comes with the necessary wires to ensure that the light stays off....so no problem at all then, great. :)

Keen to follow progress of this baby. Spotted the quarter glass immediately of course but doubt that will be easily remedied. It may not be an issue once everything is done to the boys' high standards. Overall it matters less to me than other elements but as far as I'm concerned, though what we're seeing represents a large amount of work, the project has a way to go.
