Exeter Show - November 2008
« on: August 19, 2008, 11:27:39 PM »
Just thought I'd start a topic for the last show of the year - no excuses now for not remembering this one. It's actually called "Great Western Kit & Car Builder Show". The dates are 15/16 November.
Last year it was cold and wet - thinks.... not a very good PR job of getting people to come to the show! However I did meet some very friendly and enthusiastic people there. If I remember rightly that included someone called Brian and Roland, whoever they are.

Here's a word of warning to anyone coming who hasn't yet got a DNA kit (apart from "why not?") it was after that show that I made up my mind, then took the plunge and became the owner of a 360 kit.

So tenpin what your saying come november time when all she's thinking about is shopping for presents, I could also use Exeter as a 'windowshopping' run ALONE, that might turn into a 'present buying' trip and then come christmas day the surprise can be dropped in that she'll be losing her fella to the garage for a few months??!! I like your style, a clever man indeed with the timing of the swiss lol!!  ;D ;D

OK, the adverts have started to appear in the mags for this show, so we should start to think about who's going...
The show's at Westpoint, Exeter on the 15 and 16th November from 10AM to 5PM both days, admission is £10. It's run by the same people that run the Detling and Peterborough shows, so promises to be good. Bearing in mind the weather last year, and what we normally expect for November, it's probably not a show for going camping... unless like some people you have a camper van!
This does also pose an interesting question - as it seems to have become a tradition that we have a BBQ after each show - what do we do at Exeter?

There used to be an off road course there when I was a lad... We are talking quite a few years ago though.  ::)

Could be fun if someone is doing once around the track rides like they used to in Landrovers.

The Quay side area of Exeter is pretty cool as well as there is (used to be) a good place for a few beers and Pizza (sold by the dustbin lid) followed by a few more jars in a club (the cellar???) or the other one - can't remember what it was called... Wow I really am showing my age!

I'm more jealous than ever now guys. Not only do you get a good show in a great city but you get Jaffa cakes... I guess I'll just have to remember we are only paying about 2 pounds a gallon for fuel. Anyone want to swap me a few gallons for some Jaffa cakes  ;D I miss that smashing jaffa orangey bit in the middle.  :'(

What's this about pictures?  I think aak1203 and FBP3rd have lost the plot - the Exeter show is not till November....
However if you want pics of the Stafford show... head over to the Stafford show thread, I'm sure some will appear there, eventually. There might even be one of a £5 (+VAT) special!

Exeter is a good place to sell if anybody is finishing off a car ready for sale.

Ah, well, for me, the big question is: "Will it be ready?" not "Will I be able to sell it?". Actually it's probably too tight to call, 'cos once it's been painted it's got to go to Birmingham for its' hood! All of which take time.
Regardless of whether my car is ready I'm intending to be at Exeter and it would be good if we could get at least a few of us there. I reckon we did get 10 DNAOC members to Stafford, lets go for more for Exeter.

It will be necessary to have the stand in place by 8.30 am at the latest on the Saturday morning and break down will be around 5pm on Sunday. OK, I've phoned John Cooke, but all I got was an answerphone, so I've left a msg asking him to call me. Then if we get a stand... I guess we'll have to fight over whose car goes on it! So, first question: Whose interested and has a car available for that weekend?
I'll start the list -

1) tenpin (car's due back from paint by then)
