I have definatly made a mistake. The top face of the wing I have given two coats of self levelling resin. No problems there. Ready to go back to the final rub down next week.
I haven't got much of this resin left and ( when you include the postage) is expensive. But I had a lot of casting resin left from another job left over so I used that on the bottom of the wing. Not a good idea. The smoothing resin is designed to work (cure) in a thin layer. If you leave it in the mixing jar it gets very hot, may smoke and can even catch fire as it cures.
The casting resin on the other hand is designed to work in bulk as you cast with it. In a thin layer it doesn't want to set. 24 hours after painting it on it's still very tacky. WHOOPS. I'll leave it outside, in a cat free area, until I get back from Manchester. If it still hasn't set I'll find some way of getting it off, I'm sure there's a way.
Lean from my mistake and don't use the wrong resin.
