Hi Mick

You couldn't print me of a little wheel, that the missus lost from the microwave round tray thing. Its only running on two wheels and the moment and the third leg where the wheel is lost, is making a terrible scratching squeeking noise, I don't know how much longer I can last before I break. lol  :'(

Kal.  No problem, but "a little wheel" is slightly under-defined.
Not all problems can be solved with gaffer tape.  For those there is WD40.
Not even gaffer tape can fix stupid, but it can mask the sound.

If you can’t buy it or steal it you have to make it.

That's the other air tube in.  Filling the joints and spraying is next.
What I have found is the air tubes are nowhere symmetrical.  The right hand side bends towards the centre of the car to miss the brake distribution unit and the left hand side one bends away from the centre of the car to miss the oil filter and oil cooler.  It's obvious once you've spotted it.

I recently had my eyes tested and it was confirmed I have perfect hindsite.

Just a pic of 'other side.

I'll be glad when it's warm enough to work in the garden rubbing down, I don't want the garage full of plastic dust.

The last iteration of the engine cover stalled because the rear engine cover ribs were squint.  Recent progress in the 3D printing experience means that I'm going to redo the whole cover.

To this aim I have made some location jigs to hold the rib bars in place while they are bonded on.  The lugs on each end locate in the gap between the centre part and the air boxes.

Pic 1). The jig on the computor.
Pic 2). The jigs (upside down) with three ribs in it.  I'll use a bit of double sided tape to hold the ribs in place while they are sticking.  I'll put a weight on them to hold them down.

The supplier of the aluminium filament has some more on order but it will be ten days before it's sent.

Air tubes and Novitec badges gone over to Stafford for dipping.  Should be about two weeks.  My aluminium filament arrived yesterday so it's back to prepping the engine cover for Wayne to paint.

Rubbed down the front engine cover.  I've also been reading an article on the 3D forum about annealing ABS.  No wonder the cover is so hard to rub down, it's been annealing for the last 13 years.

Annealing ABS? That's a new one! Must look into it

Steve.  The other widely used plastic in 3D printing (PLA) can also be annealed.  In both cases it's the same as annealing a metal.  The melting to produce the casting (moulding) or extrusion produces large crystals which have a weakness between them.  Heating the plastics to between the glass transformation and the melting point for a period of about an hour and then cooling slowly causes small grain structure with better strength between them.

Complicated isn't it.

It's such a steep learning curve this 3D stuff.

Trying to do the raised, "cast" bits of the engine cover.  I've printed most of the bits but found that because of the way the printer lays down the extrusion you are left with a perimeter border and a pattern on the top of the print. Sanding it doesn't remove this as it's the structure of the print so I'm going to try using paint as a filler, ie take most of it back off, to try and give a smooth, pattternless surface.  It seems to work on small bits so here's hopping.

Interesting to see when you can mate. Eternal prototyping :)

Steve.   I like that.   Eternal prototyping.  I shall have to use that a bit.

I came across this the other day.  A picture of the original Cavalino Rampant.   A bad hair day on the maine but the big change is the direction of the tail.  This was changed, I think in the ‘60s, to fit on a badge a bit better.

Bloke looks a bit serious for someone with a cake on his head....Mario Berryio perhaps?   ;D
If Airfix plastic model planes are made exactly to scale, why don't they fly?
