Carbon Dipping
« on: December 31, 2013, 03:30:03 PM »
You may have seen this already I had the heater control panel "carbon dipped". Its actually a hydro graphic coating. Cost for this part was £65 but the finish is absolutely amazing I am going to get the rest of the dash parts done i.e. cup holder , head unit surround , speedo binnacle and steering column surrounds.
Has to be V6 power and SERIOUS NOISE !!!!!!

That does look a good finish! I was thinking of having my air vents done as well as the heater surround. There are quite a few companies doing this now but the finish is not always as good as yours.

Can you post up the details please of where you had this done?  :)

There were several "dippers" at the shows over the last year.  Of those Wicked Coatings were by far the best.  The gold in the carbon fibre was spectacular.  I borrowed some bits and placed them on the Furrari doors and the effect was amazing.  This is the company I will be using for the new Furrari.
Probably not the cheapest but I think the best.  Unless anybody else knows differently?
Not all problems can be solved with gaffer tape.  For those there is WD40.
Not even gaffer tape can fix stupid, but it can mask the sound.

If you can’t buy it or steal it you have to make it.

There is a place about a mile from me in Coventry that does dipping but the quality is not as good as this. At the end of the day I suppose you get what you pay for so I will be using "Wicked" .

Crossy.
The people in Coventry do nice work and are local (ish) to me as well.  I was thinking of using them until I saw the work from Wicked Coatings who take carbon dipping to a new level.  It looks good in the picture but that does not do it justice.

Your right Furrari about the gold fleck in the pattern that the light really catches and makes it "pop"  :o its not really shown up in the photo.

I love the wet look carbon fiber, but I have a friend who has had his enter tunnel treated and although it looks amazing it has become rather impractical as on sunny days it becomes unbelievably hot, to the point that heat transfer also means that the gear lever and knob also get hot enough to burn you if you touch it, so be mindful of this before you go mad with dipping everything

I think we all need to be extra careful as to what ends up on our entry tunnels! LOL. Seriously though, its a good point and well worth pointing out as the centre console is something I did think about getting dipped.  :)
