mitnpix 5cudo build

Well, the project has officially started.
First, I've got a donor car. 51 plate V6 with 56k miles and FSH.
Next up tidy the garage.. about 8hrs, 3 trips to the tip and one bad back later there is room for the cougar and space either side to work.
Hopefully the car is off to DNA in the next 3 weeks for prep, then the fun properly starts.
Brakes need sorting tomorrow as they mainly seem to have been used for rust gathering purposes and if I'm going to be driving it up to DNA then the ability to stop if needed on the way seems a good idea.
Might find a few jobs to do before it goes though.

Looks like a nice motor buddy.
If your changing the brakes buddy I'm in negotiations with big brake manufacturer using 6 and 8 pot calipers.drilled and grooved discs.

Wow, I'm impressed with the garage. Did you let the wife help?

good idea to do the brakes now before the fake discs etc are on, my brakes were leaking fluid .
do a service if you can also ,ford might look at it funny if you turn up dressed as a ferrari
anything thats under the wings that need changing or replacing is a good idea too as they get hard to reach once the kit goes on
where in the uk are you? how much are you doing yourself?

Furrari- garage tidying was all my own work, the wife wanted to help but had to go out. I'm paying the price today, back is killing me
Tricky- brakes are really weak, too weak for my liking. I'll get them to give it the once over tomorrow.
I'm in Essex
DNA are prepping the cougar, from then on its the standard build as far as I can tell, get it to the point where it kind of ready for paint, then ship it up to DNA. Similar to str00dle's build

Check when the MOT runs out. You won't be able to get it MOT'ed once you (or DNA) start cutting the car - you'll have to wait until it's finished. If you think you might be changing the no. plate then you need to have a valid MOT to do it. Besides which it means you can drive it as soon as you've completed it!
Just a thought,

Tenpin- mot'd until November, I've got a feeling there'll be a new plate on it in the next 2 weeks too, makes sense to do it now

The best battery cable is welding cable, finer strands so it can carry more current and more flexible. The outer is better as well cos it's made for industrial use. Only draw back, it costs more.

started buying a few bits ready for some small jobs, more scarily though I've started a spreadsheet to keep track of what I'm spending.. not sure thats a good idea, but it will show everything I've bought and where from. Seems to be adding up already

I'm not suprised D, all that custom work can eat up the pennies.
I originally came in at pretty much what I had anticipated on spending, but the change of seats and interior re-trim have sent me a fair wack over, lol and it probably won't stop there.
Where do you stop though, this is the thing.

Can anyone who has run their cable for the battery let me know where they drilled the hole through from the engine bay, doesn't seem to be anywhere I can get to that I'm happy with, too much soundproofing in the car too to get a good look from inside... Cougar / 5cudo
Cheers
