I used a jigsaw for the big holes and then trimmed them up with my dremmel equivalent. tenpin

The headlamp supports locate on the ends of the bumper and a hole in the bracket lines up over a rivet (on the front face of the bumper) - drill the rivet out and bolt it there. Then there's a small hole on top of the diamond shaped plate over the bumper - drill the bumper there and bolt it. I'll post some pics I took earlier when I get home this evening - hope this helps.  tenpin

Thanks CdRsKuLL - I was about to post that this was a build thread and I would really like to keep it that way.

Thanks for the comments on my build - as I posted my next big challenge is to get the doors to open past the wheel arches... tenpin

Hi Munkyking, the progress is all smoke and mirrors (though I haven't got round to those yet!). It's amazing how deceptive a photo can be! The doors don't actually open past the wheel arch panels - a job for this weekend. As for the exhaust it's just fitted loosely, until I've set the rear bumper fully in place. One set of pipes doesn't look too bad, the other is sagging, just another of those jobs to look forward to. I'll gladly send photos once I've worked it out.

As for colour and wheels - well ages ago when I checked on the forum there was one colour that no-one else had gone for - so I bagged that for mine to be the first (at this point loads of people post that they've done theirs in this colour!). The colour is intended to be tour de france blue - a dark blue with probably a light off white leather (crema?). The wheels are likely to be the alternate ones from DNA - not the five spoke original Ferrari or similar replica. tenpin

Hi, there are three things that bolt onto the front bumper bar - the body support and the two headlamp supports. The headlamp supports locate on the ends of the bumper and a hole in the bracket lines up over a rivet - drill the rivet out and bolt it there. There's a small hole on top of that plate over the bumper - drill the bumper there and bolt it. The big plate is centered  (left - right ) on the bumper and then bolted to the front face of the bumper through the two slots in the brackets. As to whether the mounting hardware is included - I can't say what you got shipped over to you, but I've made friends with my local Screwfix store.... they must wonder what on earth I'm doing with all those stainless nuts, bolts washers etc that I keep buying! - tenpin

I guess it's because there's nowhere sensible to fix the hinges to, which will allow the new bonnet to clear the rest of the bodywork. It also means the problem of an into-wind air brake is avoided if it isn't latched down properly! - tenpin

Sunday - fitted the hinges for the front lid, so that we could get a better idea of how the front was lining up without having to worry about carrying the bonnet back and forth. It then got hot, the sun came out and so did the perspex panel in the rear lid, not too worried as I remebered someone else posted that their perspex panel expanded in the sun. Looks like I'm going to have to trim that down by at least 1mm on each side!
Finished lining up the driver's side front sill and screwed that in place. Made up the clay for setting up the door positions. Drilled a couple of 8mm holes where the clay was going to go in the fibre glass door returns and pressed the clay through the holes so that it would hold. Masking taped up the doors where the clay would touch them, note do a much larger area with tape, than you think you need, just in case the clay squeezes in that direction! Once it sets, and it goes rock solid try and remove the door panel - if it's like mine it will have bonded to the masking tape. You may not think that masking tape has much grip, but the combination of clay and tape put up a significant fight....
Next it was onto the door handle mechanism, managed to get the passenger one put together and bolted onto the car (it works!) and made the hole in the door for it and then it was time to stop. - tenpin

Weekly update - got a new dremel - the old one went up in flames (literally). Saturday - weather was not so ggod so stayed in the garage and did some bits. Tidied up the the large hole in the rear bumper as well as the cat hole with the dremel. Last week I omitted to say that we had fitted the rear lid to its hinges and the car - OK it doesn't open properly and wasn't lined up square and would cut lumps out of the rear panel if opened up fully, but it was another bit of progress on a wet weekend. So, I remembered the gas struts and fitted them this weekend. The lid still isn't square etc ... but it now won't open all the way back and hit the rear panel with the hinges. (Note to Munkyking: if you haven't bonded the rear section then it might be easier to drill the holes for the gas struts first!). I then had a go at fitting the grills and perspex panel in the rear lid. Took a while working out where the holes for the perspex go, but it's now done. - tenpin

OK - the cat hole. You should see an outline in the fibreglass moulding giving you an idea of where to cut. I'll post some photos later - I'll have to drop the rear bumper to get them so probably at the weekend - if you need them sooner let me know and I'll do it one evening. I don't think I'm 4 weeks ahead - the dustsheet hid an awful lot of things - e.g. the door is only rested on as is the bonnet, if you look closely I think there's still a jack holding the cill in place etc etc.

You mean you had extra stuff - like documentation? that came with your kit? I'm going to complain to DNA! On second thoughts, perhaps not - they've been excellent whenever I've called them up. tenpin

Before anyone comments - choose one of either
a) it was the only way I could get the entire car in the picture without going through the hedge backwards

OR

b) we had to tip the picture up to drain the several gallons of water that collected in the tarp and dust sheets

Weekly update - not too much progress - rain stopped play. we'd just about sorted out where we thought the door ought to go.... so that we could get the lines right for setting up the front section passenger side when the heavens opened. The drivers side didn't get done. (All this while DNA were in the warm with a couple of extra seat covers!)
We retired to the garage to cut holes in the rear bumper for the number plate lights, rear grille and cat. Had to cut a slightly larger hole than indicated for the cat to avoid it catching on the sensor and cable. Then I plugged in the no. plate lights and turned them on - nothing! Frantic scramble for cable tester and mad reseating of bulbs and connectos - actual problem - 2 dead bulbs, so grabbed the 2 from the MR2 headlight assembly and it works. As I've not posted too many photos here's one of the car under cover. - tenpin

Here's apicture of the door as promised. The inner door skin has not yet been folded for the DNA door cards. I can't promise this is correct, all I can say is it's what I've done - time will tell (possibly today if the weather gets better!). - tenpin

The top was really quite stiff to get off, I had to prise it off with a crowbar type implement. I think it's just that where it's been folded over it has stuck tight - there also appeared to be some sort of sealing compound in that area which also held it solid. As for pictures - I can post some when I get home. Shame that work gets in the way of the build! - tenpin
