Sales and Wants / 250 Cal boot handles
« on: November 27, 2020, 06:48:27 PM »
After paying out £355 for a "real" boot handle I now have two DNA 3d printed ones that I no longer require. One has been hydro chromed, has a dummy lock fitted, and was fitted to my car. It is used but pretty good nick.

The other is a 3d printed handle with no lock that requires final finishing and chroming. (I bought it as a spare, never used)

Bear in mind that I paid £60 for the blank one alone, and about £100 for the one off my car (if you take into account the cost of the dummy lock and the chroming)

Sensible offers welcome. Photo's for anyone interested.

General Sales and Wanted / 2Fifty bits and pieces for sale
« on: November 30, 2017, 12:14:51 PM »
I don't know if anyone out there is stuck for 2Fifty bits, but soon I will have a few for sale;

Both headlight surrounds in acrylic, cut perfectly, one primed for chroming the other will require rubbing back after a failed chroming attempt
These are available now. Despite the extra work of cutting and trimming they can be had for the same price I paid DNA - £100 the pair

Both side louvers in acrylic, fitted together and hydro chromed
I have yet to remove these from the car. These can be had for the original cost + the cost of chroming, so £140 for the pair (but you will have to wait until I get round to removing them....some time over winter)

Original DNA supplied boot lock with 2 keys, £15

Ask any questions on here.....or PM me if you are interested...

Other kitcar chat / VHT Wrinkle paint
« on: July 18, 2017, 12:58:56 PM »
I have just sprayed the tops of my inner door cards with VHT wrinkle paint.

I am quite happy with the wrinkle effect....but not so happy in that the depth of black is not consistent, from spraying extra bits that had not quite wrinkled enough (as it says to in the instructions) you can see where the depth of spray is different even though the wrinkle effect is similar.

My question is; Can VHT wrinkle paint, itself, be overpainted. I would like to give it a light spray over with satin black, just to equalise the colour?????? I think I can, as it says it goes rock hard after 48 hours and can withstand 250 degrees.....so a coat of paint should be OK.

BUT does anyone know any different?????????

Meets and Events / Zfest
« on: July 12, 2017, 08:30:19 PM »
Anyone with a Z3 based kit (250's) can come to the annual Zfest.

This year its being held at a watermill near Leicester/Loughborough, with over 200 cars. Any kits based on Z's seem welcome. Costs £2 per head. Just join Zroadster.org and book yourselves in.

It takes place on the 20th August and runs 11.00 till 16.30. Here's a link;

Build Threads / Sir Percivals 2Fifty Cal build thread
« on: February 07, 2016, 10:14:54 PM »
Now this may seem a little premature but, as you know I have been very interested in the new offering from DNA ever since I first saw it and, although I still need to see a completed one, I have taken the plunge and bought a donor car for the build. Should I have any doubts when I do see a completed Cali then I can always sell the donor on, with nothing (or at least not too much) lost.

I shall put a couple of pictures of the donor on shortly. It is a 2.8 Z3 with 70K on the clock. One owner from new, full BMW service history, electric/hyd hood, elec windows and mirrors, A/C, blue with beige leather interior.

All in all it is in pretty good nick, with the following exceptions; LCD display on radio has failed, passenger window sticks half way, drivers window slow to operate, passenger door does not centrally lock, although works OK with key and from inside.

Having looked at a number of Z club sites it would appear that all of these are easily fixed, and this is what I shall be doing for the next six months while I run it about to test it. I already have it booked in for a precautionary clutch change (£325 all in fitted) and I will get a full service soon.

Insurance for me and the wife £228 fully comprehensive. I will keep you informed of progress and all the fixes that I make regarding the snags.

This will be just an occasional report if and until I place my body order.

Looking forward to seeing some of you at Stoneleigh

DN8 Chat / Did I see a DN8 today?
« on: April 18, 2015, 07:48:14 PM »
My wife and I went to Sutton Park in Sutton Coldfield today (Sat 18th April), trying to find the donkey sanctuary....anyway we got lost.

As we were waiting at one of the inlet gates to the park we were passed by what looked like a DN8 (red with a black roof) turn up at the same gate.

It looked like the reg was BA1lY...or something similar. It looked fabulous.

Was it someone from the DNA Owners club??
