Meets and Events / Brooklands classic car meet New Years day
« on: December 25, 2018, 09:52:25 AM »
Free to see all the visiting classics(or it was last year) and to walk the remains of the track. You can also pay to visit the museum which is well worth the cost.

On reading the thread I noticed that you have used MGB seats. I have a pair of the same that I am intending to use but am not to happy about the lever that reclines the seat back. You don't have it fitted, how do you recline the seats?
Thanks

Smash on the Tribute forum bought knock ons fron Dayton in Oz. Much cheaper than MWS bolt ons including splines and triple eared spinners.

I have 2 sets of bolt on wires, one set from MWS and one from Dayton. The Daytons weigh almost half as much and have a much smaller central hun so look much better than the MWS wheels.

Was playing with my sons 2.2 and this also is black under the bonnet and boot, quite a late one, 2002. So it is not just the 3.0 but probably all late cars but I don't know when they changed to black.

Have a look on the madabout forum, in the trobute section, Eric Holms (Andy) build. Different kit but a lot of helpful Z3 information, including wiring (but not the instruments).

What dealer supplied them for £100 and do you have the part number. I can only find the part numbers seperately and priced that way as well!
Thanks

The later 3.0 cars are painted black under the bonnet so can be painted any colour.
Go for aircon if possible.
Try and find one that has the polished alloy windscreen surround, looks much better than the DNA version.
Don't bother with 4 pots. I have a 2.2 and a 2.8 and struggle to notice any difference in performance. Would suggest a 2.8/3.0
as first choice.
Run the car for at least a month and put it through an MOT before starting to chop it up.

Looking good but I do think you should turn the tyres around so the lettering can't be seen. Just had my roof changed to Sir Percy's style with the smaller rear window, gives the car a really different look and away from the BMW look.
Nice thing about the Tributes is that all the panels can be unbolted. I removed my rear end when having the roof changed, made it cheaper as the frame didn't have to be removed and it only took 20 minutes.

I had my grill surround vacuum chrome plated and the results were good. Mine did show sanding marks and I would suggest having them painted first, that way they shouldn't show any sanding marks.

Build Threads / Re: Sir Percivals 2Fifty Cal build thread

My central locking failed for no reason so there was no way to get into the car. I had to remove the rear window and even then the car could not be opened from the inside until the key was in the ignition.
I managed to get the window back in but it had weakened the stitching. I have it booked in for a new roof next week.
Expensive mistake.

I take it that Sir Percy's car was unlocked, if it was locked you wouldn't have been able to get into the car to open the bonnet. As your rear window does not have a zip it would have been a VERY expensive mistake. Probably cheaper to smash the driver's window.
Someone on the madabout forum has worked a way to wire a hidden switch to the driver's window allowing you to lower the window in case the cars locking fails.

You just need to remember that all insurance brokers/companies are lying, thieving bastards.

Must be cheaper to insure it normally on a limited mileage.

That does sound very expensive, my 250 & Daytona both come in at £180 from Adrian Flux on £5k miles. One valued at £30k and the other at £40k. So unless you have a very high value they seen to be taking the p*ss.
