Title: 2fifty metalwork needed please
Post by: argy on October 15, 2019, 08:48:53 AM
Having started a new conversion I've discovered that I'm missing various bits and pieces from the kit that I bought.

Whilst this isn't a disaster it is a bit of a set back as I'd rather not go about having to make bits that have already been made and may well be out there already so...

The photo below is from my build diary and shows all of the brackets and fiddly things that I have. I know that I'm missing the door latch plates and all of the headlamp metalwork. The problem is that I don't know what else I'm missing.

If anyone has or can point me at a source of the door latches and headlamp fittings I would be very grateful. If you can also look over the photo and let me know if I'm missing anything else (I've got the bumper sections) then that too would be very helpful.

Thanks in anticipation
Russell

WOW, you have quite a bit more than me.

I guess that all of these are earmarked for a project?

I've run through the build video again and identified the following missing components

1. Glue turntables (I have 1 I need another 3)
2. Door latch plates (but I have something different...)
3. Fuel filler bracket
4. wiper motor bracket
5. Headlamp brackets
6. Boot release bracket
7. Bonnet release fixing bracket

Do you have any spare bits or can you point me at where to source them?

Which wiper motor is used? Is it the original BMW one or is there an alternative and, importantly, how does it attach to the wiper motor bracket, or is that also part of the full kit?

Cheers
Russell

From your photo's I've also identified some things which I didn't spot in the build video and which I don't seem to have, I wonder if you can tell me what they are for?

Thanks for all of this. I feel a shopping spree coming on :-(

Do you know of any one that still makes or can supply any of these bits and pieces Hopefully someone will have a bin full of this stuf somewhere?

I'd welcome a private chate / PM from anyone that can help out.

Thanks
Russell

I think you will find that the wiper motor/clamp/tubes and wheelboxes is a standard buy, as a kit, from Car Builder Solutions (CBS)

I have a boot lock with keys (as shown in the picture) still in the packet from DNA, that I didn't use...not sure how much it's worth (its probably from CBS as well so you could probably find the price of it on there)

I also have a hydro chromed replica 3d printed boot handle with fitted fake lock... and a 3d printed boot handle with no lock (the latter I bought as a spare before I forked out for a "real" one (a whopping £355 by the way!!)....both for sale....however please bear in mind that, should you wish to make an offer, for the bare 3d print alone I paid Brian £60...the lock in the chrome one cost me £25, plus chroming on top...so my (not very subtle) point is that this stuff ain't cheap!

I don't want to make money on anything...just somewhere near to what I paid for them.

Count Arthur Strong once sagely said about the programme "Wheeler Dealers" ;

"Its a telly programme where they buy cars, spend a fortune doing them up, and then celebrate selling them for slightly less than they paid for them in the first place"

Thanks for the offer Sir Percival but one thing that I do have is the boot lock and the door handles.

I'll get in touch with CBS and see what they can do to help.

Another thing that I've realised that I'm mising is the front radiator grill. Any thoughts on where to get one of these?

Thanks again Sir Percival,
I found this item on CBS
https://www.carbuilder.com/uk/windscreen-wiper-kit (https://www.carbuilder.com/uk/windscreen-wiper-kit)
Does anyone know which sweep angle is required as there is a choice of six.

Obviously I want the right angle but maybe not one that is a right angle... :-)
