Can you explain in more detail, the real cost is in the prep, not the spraying.

Why does a GRP car need more prep than a steel one? If the fibreglass moulding is wobbly, bodyfiller galore, I can see the work of course. Same with other GRP cars like Lotus, TVR etc, not exclusive to kitcars. A professional sprayer not wanting the work? hmm

have or are you going to fit an uprated rear AR bar? The standard diameter one seems a bit puny for the task now, with the added width and increased rear grip- am looking out for a suitable upgrate myself.

That looks very authentic, is it a genuine 430 rim?

Have you still got that nice Lamborghini replica with the engine swap?

Yes Moman are good, I loved the dials they made for my old F360 replica based on the Peugeot 406 Coupe, fabulously lit and gorgeous driving at night. You can specify what you want, theyre made extremely well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vq4gfkISoSw

With regards the 430 wheel mod, basically its a sandwich of your existing wheel, you dont use the sim wheel rim at all . They seem to fit best with a Momo ot Momo style wheel.

wow, thats a lot of instrument panel work, great if you pull that off. Looking forward to seeing it.
I was feeling pleased with myself just getting a prancing horse logo lit up when selecting Race mode using the manettino!

My medium term plan is to upgrade to indiglo plasma like Madman has done, replacing the horse with RACE, with an independent +ve feed. Moman has quoted or the work, I've used him before with the F360 replica. https://moman.pl/en/

Keep up the good work.

Hi Lee,

Yes I experienced that at first, had some success using a soldering iron on the metal blade to heat up close to the black plastic fob outer hoop, and wiggling a bit. I then realised these ferrari blank metal key blades have a small drill hole at the top (hidden inside the black plastic) and black plastic goes through that hole. A small drill bit sorted that out, soon as you're through one side of plastic, the drill soon finds the hole in the blade (if that makes sense).

This should leave a small rectangular hole in the black plastic part. Lay the MR2 key shaft end on top, mark the shape of the stub you need at the end (I used a metal scribe), for it to fit in the Ferrari fob, then start filing. Its soft metal, so pretty easy. I used Araldite 2 part epoxy glue to stick it in, and did my best to make the fit as snug as possible.

Hope that helps

Hi Redhot,

So I bought one of these key fobs a few years back, and gave up at the first hurdle, as I couldn’t see how to get the original metal blade out of the fob and the the MR2 blade into the fob without destroying the plastic ?

Any advice?

Yes, if you can get your hand through the bit where the flap is (the small part that swings out horizontally to cover the little rectangle gap that appears when you put the hood down, behind your ear), you should easily be able to reah thru and touch the engine cover latch mechanism. Happened to me, and phew, was pleased I could do that
