Hi Mechman,
How did you get on with this?

The message subject suggests that you have access to the inside of the car. Do you still have the door top push button and if so, can it be raised?

When you pull the interior door handle lever, does it move or is it jammed?

Typically the cause of this is that there is a bit of tension on the cable between the push button and the door latch mechanism when the door is locked. Usually the door can be unlocked by raising the push button and operating the interior door handle.

The original DNA door handle components add a bit of weight to the door latch mechanism, there are a couple of bits of metal that clamp on to the latch lever. Either these alone or the additional bit of tension on the cable can cause the lock to deadlock.

I'm interested to understand the situation gets resolved.

Cheers
Russell

It's the curse of deadlocking.

If you pm me your email address I can send you instructions on how to open the car but you need to be able to get into the car to do it. If you are locked out then the only way in is through the rear window.

Hi fellow 2fifty drivers, has anyone had the same problem? Or any idea how I can open the door.
I had the problem briefly a while back, but the next day it was fine.
I bought a new lock with the idea of fitting it when I had time!
Should have made time! Any help would be appreciated.
Regards Mechman.

Well this has been a while  ;D

I've not done anything with the car because I was fed up with it, I needed to do something else to take my mind off it, so I built a tilting car trailer for my 'hotted' up Saab 95 to go on track days. I've had my fun and now it's time to get back on the car.

The seats have always been an issue for me, various builds have gone different ways through the years, I wanted 430 looking seats but with adjustable headrests, I started looking at this part of the build around 10 years ago and never really solved it.
A fresh look and now I have the adjusted headrest frames for the trimmer.
Steve's original post regarding the rebuilding of the mr2 seat gave me some ideas to work from, got to thank him for that  8)

Here's a vid of the biuld as usual

Thanks to Jez for your input.

I can see that the size of the cutout required for the Mustang handle's lever system is of such a size and shape that it lies a few millimeters outside of the shape of the Z3 Italian style handle. Because of this I think it doesn't make sense to have something which uses the same fixing holes whilst still requiring part of the original Mustang hole to be filled and painted.

As a consequence, although the design has been completed it doesn't make sense to enter production. On the other hand, we (grassbank) have re-structured the price for our handles to come in at under £300 for a pair of mirror polished stainless steel handles with the built in lever to operate in the same way as the Mustang handles.

Thanks for looking...
