Other kitcar chat / Kit Car Shows Entrance Fees
« on: May 11, 2010, 03:46:56 PM »
As I mentioned previously, I was asked about this at the Detling show, to see if I could get any ideas from the DNAOC members. So, now we've seen how Stoneleigh worked, what ideas have we got that would encourage kit car and non kit car visitors to a show?
Should it be like Stoneleigh - kit car driver free, but pay a nominal amount for camping, kitcar passenger pays equivalent of one day entrance fee and for camping?
Should camping be free, but you pay entry into the exhibition each day?
Should you pay camping per tent, vehicle or person?

Please lets have your ideas.

Other kitcar chat / Southern Kit Cars
« on: March 19, 2010, 11:45:23 AM »
Last year I met some owners of non-DNA kit cars, apparently there are also Cobras, Sevens, Tigers and all sort of other kits  :o  :o
Anyway it was great fun on our outing to Bentley Motor Museum where we had over 70 kit cars attending. The organiser of that event has set up a website / forum so that owners of any marque can get in contact and go out for runs etc. So far, mine's the only DNA involved... Anyone else in the area interested?

The site is at www.southernkitcars.com and is titled: Southernkitcars Forum For Owners of Kit Cars: Kent, Sussex, East Hants, Surrey, East Berks, Middlesex, South London.

Feel free to go have a look, and lets see if we can't convert some of them into DNA owners  ;)

Meets and Events / Detling Show 4/5 April 2010
« on: March 08, 2010, 01:39:21 PM »
The first show of the year, and it's my "home" show! (I say "home" because it's the one show which I can get to in less than one hour, the rest are 4 or 5 hours on a good day!)
NOTE: This show is on Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday

Location: Kent County Showground, Detling. Just north of Maidstone, Kent on the A249

I've been asked by the organiser if we would like a reserved space for us.... Is anyone attending? or thinking about it?
Please post and let me know, thanks.

Go out NOW and buy it - it's obvious from the front cover which issue it is, but more specifically it is the February 2010 issue on sale now!

Meets and Events / Newark Kit Car Festival 19/20 June 2010
« on: December 20, 2009, 04:28:14 PM »
It's not even Christmas yet and I've already received an invitation to book a club stand at the Newark Show. Perhaps it was the real 360 we had on the stand this year?  ;D  ;D

I'll let you know more details when available, in the meantime, please have a think about attending some of the shows with your cars.

After the events at last year's Newark show, I shall always have fond memories of this event...

Meets and Events / Exeter Show November 21/22 2009
« on: September 21, 2009, 10:44:57 PM »
This is the next major show and marks "the end of the 2009 season".
It's held at Westpoint. I will post address details, entry price, opening hours later. (Sometimes it doesn't matter whether the details I post are correct or not - even when they are right, people copy them incorrectly and end up in the strangest of places!  ;D )

I'll start to plea now for people to attend - there must be owners in the South-West, who could turn up, surely??? (Or is it that Madman and tenpin are the only madmen who try to turn up to every show?)

What's pretty certain is that while there won't be a barbecue or camping, we will have a great time. We managed at Stafford, so I'm sure we will again at Exeter.

3Sixty Chat / Spotted
« on: September 12, 2009, 10:10:14 AM »
As few people turn up to shows in their DNAs, I thought (for a bit of fun) why don't we start a thread for any cars that we spot whilst driving around? Obviously, some people want to pretend that their vehicles are the genuine item... so we'd better not spoil their fun and put registrations here, but we could list where spotted, colour (oh that's no good - they'll all be red!  ;D  ;D ) and approximate time of spotting.
This thought occurred yesterday as I was driving around and came across a red one - now I don't know whether he thought mine was genuine, but for any other drivers seeing two 360's - well.....

So "spotted":
Red 360 on a 55 plate; Friday 9-Sep around 18:00; A22/M25 area. (If it's yours and you're reading this forum - your car gives the game away as the wrong segment lights up on your offside brake light  :-[ )

Curses - I've just realised that this means that that guy will know mine's a fake as well!  ;D  ;D

Post away and we'll see if there are truly more than half a dozen cars in existence!!

Meets and Events / Calling All Kit Cars in the South
« on: August 31, 2009, 10:07:01 AM »
There was an article in this month's Complete Kit Car Magazine inviting all kit car owners for a run to Bentley Wildfowl and Motor Museum on Sunday 6th September. Bentley is near Lewes in East Sussex.
The guy who's organising it is Mark Greenwood, his email is mark.greenwood@klaraconsulting.com
I've emailed him and the plan is to have four starting points (N,E,S,W), the cars to run in convoy (in small groups) and everyone to converge at 11:00 at Bentley.
I've said that I'm interested and will probably be going. I don't know how many of us there are in this area, but it would be nice if mine wasn't the only DNA car there!
Photos etc to follow and we'll see what the turnout is like.

Meets and Events / Stafford Kit Car Show -September 19/20 2009

Time to think about planning for the next show - Stafford. For those of you who've heard the rumours, I can confirm this was the event where the £5 (+VAT) special first appeared!

Meets and Events / Soft-top Sunday
« on: July 27, 2009, 01:35:07 PM »
It's been a bit quiet on the events front, so I thought I'd throw in this one - just for fun! It's a once a month themed display event at Goodwood Motor racing circuit.
Here's the web page to check it out - www.goodwood.com/breakfastclub and you should register there if you want to go.

It looks to good a deal to be true. You turn up early in the morning (OK that's not so good) and if you meet their criteria you get to park on the circuit. Then you go off and get a free breakfast!!! (You and your passenger)

I'm going to check it out this Sunday as the car seems to meet their themed requirements for this particular Sunday. I know it's too far for a lot of DNAOC members, but we must have some in that vague area!?! Be good to meet some more of you and get a few DNA's lined up!

I'll post a report after the event, and maybe some pics.

Sales and Wants / Sales and Wanted
« on: June 10, 2009, 01:42:02 PM »
This is specifically for parts for and from MR2s - you know all those little bits you've got left over on the garage floor! Also you can post here in the unlikely event that you would want to part with your DNA.

This topic was suggested some months ago by Madman and I think it's a cracking good idea, I'm just not sure why I didn't do it before!

Meets and Events / Stoneleigh Show May 3rd 4th 2009
« on: April 06, 2009, 10:42:06 PM »
This is the big show of the year - OK, some may disagree, but there's a heck of a lot of it.

This show is on the Sunday / Monday of the bank holiday this year.

I'll pose the question of who's going and how many cars after we've had the Detling show.
