Meets and Events / Great Western Classic Car Show 11-12 Feb 2017
« on: December 02, 2016, 11:29:27 AM »
Following the Classic Vehicle Restoration Show, we have been invited to have a stand at this show. It's at the same venue (Bath & West Showground BA4 6QN) on the Sat & Sun 11/12 Feb 2017.
I should find out more details next week, but I expect it to be much the same as the November show.
Who's interested? It'd be really good to have at least one 2Fifty there.

Meets and Events / Classic Vehicle Restoration Show 5/6Nov2016
« on: August 07, 2016, 10:27:46 AM »
The official title for this show is:
Footman James Classic Vehicle Restoration Show
It's organised by Bristol Classic Car Shows

Date:
   5th/6th November 2016, 09:30 to 16:00 each day
Location:
Bath and West Showground, Shepton Mallet, Somerset, BA4 6QN
Web:
   www.carsandevents.com

This is not a kit car show as such, however, Complete Kit Car (CKC) magazine have booked one hall for kit cars - specifically for owners clubs.

If we want we can have a DNAOC stand in the hall, however
 Space is limited
cars cannot leave the hall during show hours (but could leave overnight)
ideally same number of cars for each day, though could be different cars
needs to be a firm commitment to attend

Last year was great, we had three West Coasts (http://www.dnaoc.co.uk/index.php/topic,4454.msg38424.html#msg38424) and we're all intending to go again this year.
I think it would also be an ideal outing for a 2fifty (or several!).

So, anyone else interested?

Post on here and I'll talk to CKC about the size of our stand.

This is the second year that CKC (Complete Kit Car magazine) have taken over an area for kit cars. We had a reasonable turnout last year even though the weather wasn't as good as it might have been.

Meets and Events / Kits & Classics Show 7/8 Nov 2015
« on: August 22, 2015, 03:51:15 PM »
The official title for this show is:
Footman James Classic Vehicle Restoration Show
It's organised by Bristol Classic Car Shows

Date:
   7th/8th November 2015, 09:30 to 16:00 each day
Location:
Bath and West Showground, Shepton Mallet, Somerset, BA4 6QN
Cost:
Adults  £8 in advance, £10 at the gate
   Children under 16 free
Web:
   www.carsandevents.com

This is not a kit car show as such, however, Complete Kit Car magazine have booked one hall for kit cars - specifically for owners clubs. They are not expecting any kit car manufacturers to attend, though it is always a possibility that some might.
The idea for this show is that it will be an opportunity to have a good day out, use as an excuse to meet other owners, purchase all those bits that you just can't find elsewhere (and buy those little things that you come across that you know will be useful...)

If we want we can have a DNAOC stand in the hall, however
 Space is limited
cars cannot leave the hall during show hours (but could leave overnight)
ideally same number of cars for each day, though could be different cars
needs to be a firm commitment to attend

So, anyone interested?

Meets and Events / totalkitcar Live 2015 - 21st Nov
« on: July 21, 2015, 03:56:09 PM »
Advance notice of this event for your diaries.
It's a one day show, on a Saturday and it's at Brands Hatch. It was a good event last year, even though the weather wasn't that good (and the track conditions were awful!).
More details will follow when I have them, but the entry price is the same as last year - £10 in advance or £14 on the day.

Info / PM's
« on: May 25, 2015, 03:11:26 PM »
There have been a few occasions where I "knew" I had sent a PM, however the recipient didn't receive it.
However, when I checked, the message hadn't gone, maybe the forum was slow  or I'd quit the page too early - lack of patience....

How did I check? You can get the system to save copies of all your outgoing messages, so if you don't have a copy of it then it didn't go.
To set this up, select "Profile" from the menu at the top of the screen, then select "Personal message options" from the menu on the left. Next, in the window that pops up ensure that the box against "Save outgoing messages" is ticked and save the update.

It will still be annoying if the message doesn't go, but at least you'll know!

Insurance / Insurance Companies

Insurance may be cheaper than you think, if you choose a specialist broker - I've listed some companies here.

One of the frequent questions at Stoneleigh from non-kit car owners was "How much does it cost to insure one of these cars?" When told, the answer seemed to be much less than was expected.
So, don't be put off from owning a kit by the insurance cost - it probably won't be as bad as you thought!
Obviously all the normal factors will be taken into account e.g. age, driving experience, postcode etc., BUT a kit is a specialist car and you should check with a specialist broker. Check the kit car magazines for insurance brokers, I've listed three brokers at the start of this post.

Meets and Events / Kents Kit, Custom and American Car Show 19Jul2015
« on: April 21, 2015, 06:44:06 PM »
This show is at Aylesford Priory in Kent ME20 7BX
This is on Sunday 19th July.

It's a one day show from 10:00 until 16:00.

The cost to enter is £5 - this is for the car, driver and one passenger.
(Extra passengers are £2 - though that doesn't really apply for our cars!)

Here's a link to their website:
http://www.kentskitcustomandamericancarshow.co.uk/

I have contacted the organiser and we can have a club stand, however we need to submit booking forms with DNAOC written on the top for each car. He's happy to receive them from each individual club member. Once he has them he can allocate the size pitch we need. The link to the booking form is on their website.
Please would you let me know when you send in your forms.

I'm also told they have a trophy for the best car in show and best club stand.

Meets and Events / Castle Combe Action Day 20th June 2015
« on: February 27, 2015, 11:48:21 AM »
This is a one day event on Saturday 20th June.
We have been allocated K27, which I have highlighted on the attached map.
I do still have some tickets available, if you want one PM me.

It is a kit car add-on to a Classic car event. However the kit car side of it is being organised by Complete Kit Car magazine.
The full details and arrangements for the kit car side of things are not available just now, however the arrangements appear to be along the lines of the arrangements for classic cars at this event.
This means that we will have to pre-book the size of the stand, only pre-booked drivers with tickets in kit cars get in free.
As I understand it we will get some tickets free, but I don't know how many as yet.
Passengers need to book a standard advance ticket via Castle Combe to get discounted entry, otherwise it's full price on the day.

When I get more information I'll update this post, however because club stands are available in 10,20 or 40 car slots (costs unknown), it would be good to have an idea of the size stand I should book....

So, who's planning to attend?
