Potential Future DNA 360 Owner..Questions..

Hi everyone.
I know must get sick of newbie's and dreamers on this forum so i'll try and keep it easy for you guys.
I've been doing my research for around 3 months now, really interested in the DNA 360, i'd be looking for a second hand - ready built model, seen plenty around on pistonheads, autotrader and ebay all at eye catching prices.
Im 20 year old at the moment, so I will be waiting till im 21 (so i have time to save up and most kit car insures don't like people under 21), hopeing they will have dropped in my 15k price range by then.
I've been discussing it with a few friends of mine who are car fanatics, who are basically trying to tell me a replica DNA will be much more expensive to run than a normal mr2 (I believe they are refering to non-manufacture paint jobs and any repairs) would this be a true statement to make? I drive a 2000 Toyota Celica vvti at the moment, surely it wouldn't cost much more than that?
Another question I have is if I took it to my mechanic for servicing and general mechanical repairs, does the DNA kit make it any harder to work on, getting in the way of the engine etc?
Also this would be my everyday car, I would be petrified if anyone keyed it etc, do you guys think this would be a problem?
Thanks, Sam

An MR-2 has the same engine as your Celica, is no more expensive to run, and save for perhaps a weak o2 sensor and a pre-cat problem is totally reliable too. The car will obviously more expensive to buy then a normal MR-2. You may find yourself digging into your pocket a little further then 15k to get a really good one, only ever seen 1 go for less then that fully built. With a part build you need to be so careful of missing parts. As for keying and damage, well, it depends where you live. My Mum (unfortunatly) drives a 997 series 911 C4S, and there is a man up the road who drives an orange Gallardo, and the only damage found is stonechipping. Be prepared for everyone to look and take pictures... And be jealous of it in a big way! As for insurance quotes, Adrian Flux every time. The Porker is with them, and they would give me a reasonable quote on a DNA (If I was 19 of course with 3 years no claims (Yep, 3 years cos I have a bike and I'm 16) and a clean licence) So shouldn't be too bad for you, unless you live in a crap area!

Footman James say you are a club member and get insurance discount as for serice the DNA is just as easy if not easier to service with some parts such as ball joints now replaceable where as MR2 its a complete arm if if goes so your friends are a little out just read the threads on here im sure you will see it from lots of members.
back to the insurance thing it generally works out about half the price once converted than it would if it was a standard MR2

Tell me about it! No one would go near anyone under 21 with any quote for a normal MR-2. That of course provides that the vehicle has been correctly registered as a DNA 360 Ferrari replica. Some people don't bother because you don't have to tell the DVLA about it because it is a simple re-panel, the car is still a 2 seat soft top manufactured by Toyota. If the car has not been correctly registered, it's a simple job to do yourself, so no worries!

Hi seamussburkill, if your looking for the spider 360 replica, mine is up for sale which will fall into your budget, it needs a few things doing but nothing drastic. It's on the road with tax and test so can be used every day. You can do the bits and bobs as you please in your own time when money suits? I'm wanting 15k,here is the link to photobucket:

Hi shades.
Been looking at your car on ebay and piston heads for a while but i won't have the funds to buy a 15k one untill early March, also insurance is killing me, obviously at the age of 20 15k is hard to find but the 2k+ insurance is also money i have to look for. Im sure you will want it sold by then.
Was literally watching your photobucket this morning before i seen you had posted this, you must have spent a fortune on ebay fee's so far!
