360 front tyres rubbing on wheel arches
« on: June 07, 2019, 08:01:50 AM »
Hi there my 360 front tyres are rubbing on the inside of the wheel arches at the back around the bottom.
The wheels are 285/30 ZR 18. The edge of the tyres are rubbing
I have been told that DNA used to wack the offending bits with a sledge hammer.
I'm hoping for some gentler approach as the car is built and I can't keep on buying new tyres just for my Sunday drive.
Any advice will be welcomed. Remember I'm a novice.

Dressing  (whacking) with a club hammer is the way to go

The problem is that if you are too heavy handed you can easily tare a seam and  break away the sound deadening material on the other side.
Just be careful not to go crazy and don't bash it anymore than you have too

Well, I'm into the 11th year of the project, could it be ready for Stoneleigh 2020, doubt it. The longest DNA build ever

Hi I have a 360 too and I don't think your front tyres are 285 more like 215 x 35 x zr18....anyway if the inner wheel arch seam has already been flattened back then you can grind it down with a drill and grind wheel to give you a bit more clearance which is what I did. DONT over grind it though obviously.......
Has to be V6 power and SERIOUS NOISE !!!!!!

Maybe someone rotated the tires from the back to the front cause those are some wide tires in the front, you would rub for sure.

215 for the front are correct, 275 for the rears. That’s what I have on the genuine wheels. My profile is 40 not 30 so looks like your inner arch has not been pressed in at all, or very little. Options are remove hub and knock the arch back, or cut out effected area and weld in a plate so wheels clear.
