dna new model 60's style
« on: November 12, 2015, 04:12:46 PM »

some info for you guys..
late last year there was an article in a kit mag about dna offering a design/ build service , come with an idea or a sketch and they can make it for you,
spoke to dna at a show a couple of months later and we agreed to do something
I like the old style ferraris , to me they are more timeless in design and you get a bit more acceptance from other car enthusiast than a modern car with a poor performance

my budget was strict so we banded about ideas and we settled on a Ferrari 250 California, ( ferris beuller car )
there was obvious constrictions,
1. the U.K. rules for cutting up a car
2. a single doner
3. my budget
so what evolved is the photos above so far, it's based on a bmw z3, reasons being
1. availability world wide
2. loads available cheaply , well in the uk anyway, I paid £800 for my doner car
3. range of engines from 1.9 - 3.0
4. tuning options are vast with aftermarket products a plenty

it was going to be a one off car for me only but as we went along interest was gathering and dna asked if I would sell kits
DNA were keen to try out new methods of producing and moulding cars which I was happy to let them get on with what they know best
using the new methods cut down the time by months so will make the cost of the kits to be the cheapest entry level DNA
and still get dnas excellent panels and fit and finish

Looks great, please keep us updated on the build, any idea what the cost of the kit is going to be?
Hmmm how much is a Z3M going for these days, now that would be some car :)

Watched this evolve over the last few months.  Not for me but again it's of the usual DNA quality.  A quality base vehical with plenty of power.  Timeless, historical styling that won't date, with modern underpinning, how can you go wrong.
Welcome to the DNA range.
Not all problems can be solved with gaffer tape.  For those there is WD40.
Not even gaffer tape can fix stupid, but it can mask the sound.

If you can’t buy it or steal it you have to make it.

Well done Tricky and DNA. I am very tempted by this one.

Looking forward to seeing the finished article. Did the z3 ever have a hard top?

I'm itching to build another car but don't have the space. Can anyone lend me a garage? Lol

Great choice of car. Both the doner and the kit.
This is a classic that will always be iconic. Looking forward to seeing this.
The Z3 is available in various options with the M version having a 6 cylinder powerful engine.
Yes there is a hardtop available.
These diners can be picked up for very reasonable money making them the ideal option.
So how about seeing the finished car in Red with chrome spoke wheels.
Well done guys. Should be another winner in the DNA stable. :)

Looks good with wire wheels, anything else would be wrong.  Just don't ask me to clean them.

Will the wire wheels have ( replica ) spinners.?
