Friday. The 6th.
Not too bad untill we reached Bristol.  Bristol in the rush hour, not good.
Tenpin had not had time to walk from the car park to reception untill I overshot the entrance.  Before I had chance to turn round 100 yards later JJ passed me on the way to the hotel.  How's that for timing.
After we left our stuff at the hotel convoy down to the exhibition hall.  We found a tap and washed the cars.  Tenpin and I put the our cars in the hall, but no JJ.  He'd got lost (it was only 50 yards ) and drove round the hall, got his car dirty and had to start again.  All had enough and left the wheels untill the morning.
Not all problems can be solved with gaffer tape.  For those there is WD40.
Not even gaffer tape can fix stupid, but it can mask the sound.

If you can’t buy it or steal it you have to make it.

Saturday 7th
Only rained three times.  Morning, noon and night.  The rain was pretty much constant.  Stuart was trying to finish cleaning his car but it wouldn't dry.  He worked out it was a mist coming through the roof driven by the wind.  Mine was OK, I just had flies on The Furrari.  Didn't matter, we were indoors in the dty.
I think we confused a few people.  Kit cars to the left of us; kit cars to the right us us and three Furraris in the middle.  We only won the prize for third best stand but I recon we wos robbed as we were definatly the best.
Very busy all day.  First problem was to convince people that they were kit cars in a kit car show.  They just wouldn't believe they were not Ferraris. " I'm not into Ferraris.  That's OK, it's a Mercedes"
CKC had a kettle on the go so it was fresh tea/coffee all day.
Fun at packing up time to watch the open top car people putting on wet weather gear anf crash helmets to leave, not the luxury we have, like doors, windows and a roof.  Wasn't a problem for us anyway as we were all staying in a hotel just up the road and Anne was with us a gave us a lift back.

Here's a picture just to prove we did actually go. It was taken just as the show was closing on the Saturday and that was about the furthest I'd got from the cars all day - it had been so busy!
If you look closely at Furrari's car, you'll see the yellow rosette we won. (Actually, I think it was a conspiracy and that colour was chosen to go with the car...  ;D )

Funny, I didn't notice a time when we weren't surrounded by an adoring public.

The crowd at the top of the picture by the way are round the previously mentioned tea urn.

They did look good.

Sunday 8th
More of the same pantomime.  " thats a Ferrari.  Oh no it's not"
Again very busy all day, good job the tea urn was still working, with all the talking we needed the lubrication.
As I've noticed before at other shows, when there are discussions on stands such as 7 clones man talks, woman stands back.  On the DNAOC stand both are involved and sometimes the woman is more enthusiastic than the man.

Monday 9th.
The journey through Bristol was much better, same roads but no traffic.

Good show, lots of interest, never stopped the whole weekend.  It was the first year at this venue, tacked on to the restoration show.  Hope to go again next year.  Thanks to Ian Stent of CKC for inviting us.

Does anyone know who owned the Lancia Stratos in the background?

Ian.  I think it was the Apple County (kit ?) Car Club next to us.  They may have a forum.

If you look at the picture of Mick West Coast you will notice it has a different steering wheel he has kept very quiet about this upgrade, but I do love the suede effect on the dash and the Daytona seats.

JJ.
I think you just missed the post on the wheel change.
After making the mistake of contacting MB in Milton Keynes about wheel compatible ( why would you want to change the wheel etc.) I found a three spoke one on eBay, I think off a 203 coupe and a man who said it would fit and would give me my money back if it didn't.
I took it to the fount of all MB wisdom, WDM in Perry Barr, just round the corner from where DNA used to be.
They fitted it, and tried all the electrical functions and then swapped it all back again so I could get it recovered.  Recovered by a company in Bloxwich in l at her to match the rest of the interior.  Black leather, some perforated, yellow strip at the top and yellow stitching.

I tried to get the old wheel off and failed miserably.  With the show the next day I didn't want to wait so it was off to Stoneleigh with the old one.

We had another go with the car on our pitch, still no go so I went and bought the longest bar I could and it still took three of us to shift the centre bolt ( thanks lads )

And that's the story.

I think most of the recent wheels will fit mechanically but electrically I don't know.  ( don't mess with Merc electrics )

I know it would but the only scaffolding we could see was holding the building behind us up, and I think they needed that.  Plus the fact that 24' of scaffold I'd a bit unwealdly.
