Hi Guys,

Because I only have one key for my DNA I need an extra or two for spares.

But, now I am thinking why not make a stunning key instead of the mr2 key.
Have you any experience of making "Ferrari-keys"...?

First I thought about buying a uncut original key at ebay.com - but as far as I can
see the original key is shorter than the mr2 key, so that wont work.

Maybe I think about making a "engine-start" button in the car, but what about chip and so on..?

I hope I can draw on your experiences  Grin

You have many options, I went with pop-locks and they appear to be working great.  I have allot of fun when I walk to the car and 9 out 10 times there are people around the car and watch them freak out when the doors open by themselves.  If you make keys you will have to stay with the Toyota key because of the chips in them.

Perhaps someone could be able to make a hollow version of the plastic part of the Ferrari key, maybe out of injection moulded red plastic, with a badge stuck on. Like in this picture...

This could then be epoxied over the plastic part of the Toyota key, so the transponder would still work. The Ferrari key plastic looks a lot bigger than the Toyota one, so this should be possible... ?

seems a fairly straightforward project  -  I just know I'd be doing it to my SECOND key! Grin

... wrecking your one and only key could really cause a halt in the happies.

heres what i did with my key, basically i filled the toyota press on the back of the key with some p40 and smoothed it out, masked the 2 buttons and key blade and sprayed red, once dry i used a ferrari horse pin badge, grinded off the pin and stuck it to the back of the key with epoxy and hey presto.

Hope you like it
