Engine drop
« on: May 11, 2014, 11:12:41 AM »
I know people have successfully transplanted Mondeo ST200 engines into Cougars but low mileage ST200 engines in good condition are hard to come by these days. Doing up the Cougar V6 engines like changing to more aggressive cams is a lot of work and can be quite costly if you want to do the job right.

What recent ford model engines can be or have people dropped into the Cougar engine bay?  Recent Ford models such as Focus ST have really good engines and would be nice if the engine can be transplanted without significant fuss.

Cheers

Later engines are very hard to transplant into the cougar but if your interested i know we're theres 2 3ltr st220 engines and 6 speed boxes. ith a few mods the extra capacity and upgrades make these really quick.

Thanks, Beemaman. Why are later engines hard to transplant? Is it related to engine mounts?

Can the ST220 engine be married to the original Cougar manual gearbox? My 5cudo has the replica shift gate from DNA and would like to keep that if possible.

I remember from somewhere that the 5 cylinder Ford ST engine is realy a Volvo engine.  Just saying.
Not all problems can be solved with gaffer tape.  For those there is WD40.
Not even gaffer tape can fix stupid, but it can mask the sound.

If you can’t buy it or steal it you have to make it.

pumabuild is a friend of mine he does a lot of focus rs and st etc but i did ask him about the v6 duratec and theres not much options.

if your after a power upgrade why not get in touch with mario on this forum hes is making a supercharger kit for the cougar v6 that may be of some help :) he may even be doing direct engine swaps ??

I'm not sure if I'm wasting my time replying here or will I get flamed for resurrecting an old thread but I'd like to know the same.
Is it a waste of time to try to mod the current engine or are there any 3 litre engines about? Is it just a direct fit to drop a 3 litre in?
Bought Str00dle's red 5cudo.

Looking to do the interior now, anyone know of an overdash or any bits will get a finders fee.
