Just a picture of the one mass sensor body to show the finish.
Not all problems can be solved with gaffer tape.  For those there is WD40.
Not even gaffer tape can fix stupid, but it can mask the sound.

If you can’t buy it or steal it you have to make it.

I've held off sending the cable adaptor away until I built the sockets so I can see how deep the socket need to be.
The socket consists of the body, two half housings and the outer gaiter.
I cut the terminals off the back of the body, there's nothing connected to them.
I tinned the half housings and held them to the body with moles while I soldered them together, then used a cutting disc on the dremel to cut them down to about 18/19mm.
These slide back into the gaiter which I cut to about 21/22 mm long.

Now I know how long the cut down socket is a can make the cable adaptor 30mm high to give me room to get the head of the screw inside that will join the body to the air tube.

The last picture shows the amount of room saved and the five pin audio plug that will fit into the socket in the cable adaptor.

Well this 3D stuff isn't going well.
To recap. The first person I tried to use had the engine cover had it two months and did nothing.  The second company wanted silly money for the job.  The third did a good job at a good price but is proving too difficult to contact, get quotes from etc.
As Steve ( Madman) said, you use a third party you always get this problem using third parties.
So I have ordered myself a 3D printer.
The learning curve of 3D CAD and printing should be fun.

just seen this thread.. :-)  I have owned a few 3d printers, built a couple too.  Let me know if you need any help.

Which printer have you gone for in the end?  I currently have a XYZ DaVinci 1.1 plus but I've ripped the guts out of it and running ramps 1.4 board in it at the moment with a bowden extruder to reduce the weight on the X axis.

Thanks,

Steve

If Airfix plastic model planes are made exactly to scale, why don't they fly?

Steve.
I speak two languages.  English and gibberish.  Your last post on here was the later.

I have gone for a CTC
Good bed size. ( I like a big bed 'cos there's room for the cats)
Good bed and extruder temps.
Twin extruders.  I don't know if I need them but I have one or two ideas which I might try eventually.
Arrives built.  I struggle with flat pack furniture, let alone something complicated.
It's frame is a box so I should have less problems with temp control.
Looks good value for money.

If I get stuck I will most definatly call for help.

The CTC looks a decent enough printer plus lots of support for it.  I've always wanted a dual extruder, you will have to let me know how you get on.

I print in both PLA and ABS depending what I want to do. I mostly design everything up in Autodesk Inventor.

Once you have it all dialled in you end up printing lots of crap on it.. lol

I'm sure you will master it with ease.. :-)

Steve.
I'm using two CAD programs.
Onshape because it's the way to go long term.
Freecad because it's very simple to do shapes but won't handle text or assemblies.
This learning stuff is fun.

Good morning Mick

a friend of mine who works at Pinewood studios told me that the James Bond car that was blown up outside his old house. I

think it was quantum of solace not sure if I have spelt that right, The parts for the car were built on a 3-D printer, so there you

go. if they can do it. I'm sure you can have fun

Well I've printed my first self designed and printed 3D part.  I've made it in a material called PLA which may not be able to take the heat in the engine bay but is easy to print.
For now I'll just tape it in place where it will finally be placed to see how it copes with the heat over the week end at Donnington ( my thanks to the Stratos club for inviting us to share their stand)

Photos next week of the design, the printed part and the fitting.

Hi Simon

Yes it looks like the one on the DNA website found out he lives a couple of miles away from me, as far as I know it was built by DNA for a customer, who after a while sold it and the new owner bought it, I had a chat with him Saturday and it looks as though he will join the DNA owners club.

I saw it for sale on webpage just after it was built by DNA, the owner was asking for 40k+  if i remember correctly.    Nice car , I'm a big fan of the gunmetal  gray cars.
