I've held off sending the cable adaptor away until I built the sockets so I can see how deep the socket need to be.
The socket consists of the body, two half housings and the outer gaiter.
I cut the terminals off the back of the body, there's nothing connected to them.
I tinned the half housings and held them to the body with moles while I soldered them together, then used a cutting disc on the dremel to cut them down to about 18/19mm.
These slide back into the gaiter which I cut to about 21/22 mm long.
Now I know how long the cut down socket is a can make the cable adaptor 30mm high to give me room to get the head of the screw inside that will join the body to the air tube.
The last picture shows the amount of room saved and the five pin audio plug that will fit into the socket in the cable adaptor.
