Got an old Dutton Phaeton that I'm hopefully going to restore at some stage (when I get the time). Always viewed them as an ugly car as such and not the best looking of kit cars. This does seem to be a little pocket rocket though and drives like a go kart. Wonder if any members have ever owned one or had any experience of them?
Before you ask, it was given to me so I got it at the right price before you all start saying what a bag of s**t they are!!!

Its Ford 2.0 ohc but it feels superquick! I think the engine has had some work done on it. Took it for a blast around last year and it felt really crisp and powerful. Car isn't road legal as such but its certainly a fun car to drive. It also seems a lightweight car, think original donor would have been Cortina based as its registered on a "Q" plate 1985.

I bet it goes like the clappers I put a 2.0 cortina engine in a escort mk1 many years ago and that was very fast and twice the weight sounds like a fun project crossy

Yes! It really did go like poo off a spade! We were restricted though just to blasting it up and down the service road! It didn't even had any seats in so was a bit scary wheel spinning it whilst sitting on a plastic bucket! Going to try and get it on the road next summer as a play thing.

my brother had one years ago with a 1600 xflow, also had a hardtop for winter. I,ll never forget the clutch slave cylinder failed while aprox 60 mile from home, resulting in him having to stall it every time we hit a red light, then me pushing him off while he had engaged 2nd gear, then running like the clappers and diving head first through the hard top side window, much to the amusement of following drivers
happy days MADMAN

The Dutton was, in its day, state of the art. There wasn't the range there is today. It was a dutton or not much else. I never criticise them, if it puta a smile on your face it's alright with me.

Compared to the dutton Sierra the phaeton was an absolute beauty lol should be fun leaping in dukes of hazard style as I remember there were no doors nice rigid chassis
so should corner well
