Which replica would be best?
« on: April 10, 2013, 01:23:21 AM »
Hello, My son is turning 17 in 9 months and he has wanted a sports car since i could remember. Any way i have promised him he could get a replica for his first car ( he didn't want an ordinary car ) and i have a few models in mind.

-Ferrari scudo
-Ferrari 458
-Lamborghini murci ?? ( does DNA or any other trusted builders make these?, if so could you link?)
He doesn't mind about it being OEM aslong as it looks real.

Which model do you think i should get? Which could be cheapest to insure for a 17 year old boy? Which is cheapest?
how much would each car be ? (ex. donor car and OEM interior parts)
Also if DNA do complete builds I will get them to build so it's perfect

Scudo all the way! Optional 4 seats when the time may be needed, Plus the cougar here in the states would be fairly easier to insure and maintain. Stick with an easier color to maintain, maybe go with white as it fairs well when touch ups are needed.
there are no boundaries,
just simply possibilities

Thank you for the quick reply!  How much are the scudos ( fully built non OEM, car provided?)

I emailed DNA yesterday and awaiting their reply.

When insuring do i insure as a cougar with mods?

edit: Forgot to mention his budget atm is 10-15k (ex car), how much would a build cost with OEM parts like seats ect?
if more i could help him go up to about 25k-30k

I'm 18, i've got the money to buy a replica, just can't get insured....

Before you get his hopes up ring up and try some insurance quotes.

Took your offer and rang up adrian flux, They said they could only insure the Ferrari replicas and not the lambo replica. Total of around 5k for the first year, would you take up on this offer or keep searching?

You can also try Footman James and Frank Pickles. Might be worth mentioning DNAOC as some give discount to club members.

Scudo O.K if a 2.0 litre, but still high for a young un'!
430 is 1.8 could be cheaper?-TBH it won't be cheap due to age.
Not sure if it's still done but can you not insure it in your name and place your son as an extra driver?
 ;)

I was trying earlier in the year,  just kept telling me no.

What engine and rep details was that on?

I was trying to get a Lambo at first, also 5k is too much for me. Hardly use my car so it wouldn't be an everyday thing.
Did you mention limited miles etc?
