Replicas
« on: March 05, 2013, 11:59:41 AM »
There have been a few postings on here concerning replica cars in countries such as France and Italy (and the police attitude towards them). However these postings have mostly been rehashings of old events (and from other forums).
In Italy there were problems because IIRC there were some "bad people" who were making cars and then fraudulently claiming them to be the real thing and selling them as real. Not too surprisingly those cars were siezed...
I'm not a legal expert, but as far as I know, you can pretty much badge whatever you like in the UK. There doesn't seem to be a problem in the US either. In other countries it might be different, so, if you're worried, putting your own badges on replicas may well be a prudent idea. Personally, I'm not about to take my car to Italy any time soon.
Above all, don't try and misrepresent the car to officialdom or when you try and sell it.  :o
